Nguyen Van Dai, Le Trung Khoa wanted by police

Nguyen Van Dai and Le Trung Khoa were issued arrest warrants by the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency more than half a month after their indictment.

On the evening of December 5, 2024, the Ministry of Public Security announced the issuance of arrest warrants for two defendants. Previously, on November 17 and 18, 2024, Dai and Khoa were indicted by the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency for "making, storing, disseminating, or propagating information, materials, and items aimed at opposing the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam," under Clause 2, Article 117 of the Penal Code.

The Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency urges defendants Dai and Khoa to surrender to facilitate investigation, prosecution, and trial, allowing them to benefit from the state's lenient policies. The police also announced that anyone who locates the two defendants has the right to apprehend them and immediately bring them to the nearest police agency, People's Procuracy, or People's Committee.

Upon apprehending or receiving defendants Dai and Khoa, authorities must immediately notify the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency at 10 Tran Kim Xuyen Street, Yen Hoa Ward, Hanoi.

Nguyen Van Dai, 56 years old, from Hung Yen province, previously worked as a lawyer. In 2007, while serving as head of Thien An Law Office, he was indicted and later sentenced by the Hanoi appellate court to four years in prison for propagating against the state, followed by four years of probation after completing his sentence. In 2015, Dai was again detained; three years later, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced him to 15 years in prison and five years of probation in a separate case, accused of "activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government."

Le Trung Khoa, 54 years old, is from Thanh Hoa province. Khoa's last known permanent residence before leaving the country was 1, Alley 81, Lang Street, Dong Da Ward, Hanoi. Khoa holds passport number N1263389, issued on December 23, 2008, by the Vietnamese Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany.
