On the afternoon of 30/8, Nguyen Thanh Hai, Chairman of Mong Cai 1 Ward People's Committee, stated that police are investigating the incident, which came to light after videos of the events spread on social media.
The taxi's dashcam recorded the incident occurring around 2h that same day. An argument erupted between the driver and the group of passengers.
During the altercation, a man in the back seat lunged forward, grabbed the driver's hair, and pulled his head backward. A woman accompanying him then repeatedly struck the driver with a sandal. Subsequently, the driver sustained scratches and bleeding on his face.
Another video, filmed from outside the vehicle, showed the group continuing to struggle and argue in front of a bar before bystanders intervened.
Social media reports indicate that the group consisted of six people who had just left a bar and intended to ride together in a four-seater taxi. The conflict reportedly arose when the driver started moving after four passengers had boarded, but before the remaining two could get in.
Local authorities clarified that these details regarding the cause and specific events are currently social media reports, which police are actively verifying.
