Christian Madsen, an officer with 11 years of service at the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO), was arrested by his own colleagues on 25/2 – nearly two weeks after the police department received a tip that he had falsely claimed over 200 overtime hours.
During the fraud investigation, the office discovered that Madsen had spent a significant portion of his overtime hours at the home of Jaime Eason, JSO's patrol support chief, who is one of Madsen's superiors.
Following a three-week internal investigation, the agency concluded that Madsen "knowingly submitted false overtime payment requests" for various traffic regulation duties, collecting over 14,000 USD in overtime pay from 12/2025 to 2/2026.

Jacksonville Sheriff TK Waters confirmed that Madsen and Eason were in a relationship, but stated it was "unclear" how long they had been together.
Eason was the first female officer appointed patrol support chief, a position to which Sheriff Waters promoted her in 2022. In a recent press conference, Waters announced that Eason had decided to resign after a "long conversation in the office".
According to the sheriff, Eason was not responsible for approving Madsen's timesheets and was unaware of her boyfriend's fraud scheme. However, the office is still investigating whether Eason knew Madsen was supposedly on duty when he was at her home.

Madsen faces charges of grand theft, organized fraud, and official misconduct. He was suspended after his arrest, but Waters stated the office intends to terminate his employment. The sheriff noted that the allegations against Madsen represent "a deliberate and continuous pattern of criminal behavior, not a reflection of an administrative error or a single accident".
Madsen is the second JSO officer arrested since the beginning of the year. Previously, officer Nicholas Hicks resigned after his arrest on 6/1 on charges of receiving over 2,600 USD in pay for hours not worked from 6/2025 to 12/2025.
