On 12/9, a Chinese national reported to the police that his friend, Wang Xiaoci, had been forced from the Hoiana Casino (formerly in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) by a group of individuals after incurring gambling debts.
The Da Nang City Police Department quickly identified a suspicious vehicle and tracked it to an apartment at the Hoi An D’or complex, where the two victims were being held. Dozens of investigators coordinated the rescue and apprehended the suspects.
Initial investigations reveal that the victims had borrowed hundreds of thousands of yuan for gambling. Unable to repay, they were coerced into signing promissory notes, assaulted, and forced to call their families for money.
Wang Xiaoci suffered a broken molar, while Li Yao Zong was threatened with interest rates of up to 20,000 yuan per day if he failed to repay on time.
