Nha Trang ward police reported on 8/8 that Khafizov Artur, a Russian national staying at a hotel in south Nha Trang ward, has been detained by Khanh Hoa provincial police for assaulting a public official.

Investigations reveal that between 6/8 and the early morning of 7/8, Khafizov Artur, after consuming alcohol, was riding a motorbike with an unidentified woman along Tran Phu coastal road. Reaching the intersection with Tue Tinh street, he collided with the motorbike of a 53-year-old woman, causing her to fall.

Following the accident, the woman accompanying Khafizov Artur fled, while he was held by bystanders who then contacted the police. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Tung Giang, a traffic officer from the Nha Trang area, arrived to mediate.

While Lieutenant Colonel Giang was documenting the negotiation between the two parties, Khafizov Artur circled around and punched him in the face, causing bleeding.

He was subsequently subdued by traffic police and local authorities and taken to the police station.
