On the morning of 12/9, two students were involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation on school grounds. An eighth-grade student pulled out a knife and stabbed the younger student in the chest.

The victim was taken to Hoang Anh Gia Lai University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. He was experiencing difficulty breathing, respiratory failure, and blood loss from the chest wound. His pulse was rapid, and his blood pressure had dropped. An examination revealed the student had a penetrating chest wound and a pneumothorax (collapsed lung).

Doctors performed surgery to stop the bleeding, drain the air, and treat the wound within the chest cavity. The patient's condition has stabilized, and he remains under observation.

Ia Pia commune police are coordinating with other authorities to investigate the incident.
