Stray pellets from air gun shatter car windows on Hanoi-Quang Ninh expressway

Dang Quang Dao fired an air gun at birds near the expressway, but stray pellets hit several cars.

Quang Ninh provincial police announced on the afternoon of 23/9 that Dao, 28, and Dang Van Dien, 21, both residents of Phong Coc ward, were arrested for investigation of illegal possession and use of military weapons.

Around 10:00 PM on 14/9, a video surfaced on social media showing several cars having their windshields suddenly shattered by unknown objects while traveling near the CT06 intersection in Lien Hoa ward, Quang Ninh province.

Police determined the damage was caused by a homemade air gun firing iron pellets. This type of weapon is highly dangerous, and firing it at moving vehicles can cause serious accidents and directly threaten the lives of those on the road.

On the afternoon of 15/9, the Criminal Investigation Department arrested Dao and Dien.

Dien borrowed Dao's homemade gun to shoot birds near the expressway, but stray pellets hit several cars.

The Criminal Investigation Department requests that owners of vehicles damaged while traveling on the Hanoi-Quang Ninh expressway during this period contact the Quang Ninh Provincial Police to coordinate a resolution.

According to the police, manufacturing, possessing, and using homemade guns, military weapons, or support tools illegally is against the law and poses a danger to people's lives and property.
