The Ministry of Public Security announced today that the Supreme People's Procuracy has issued an indictment against suspect Nguyen Van Dai for the crime of making, storing, disseminating, or propagandizing information and documents against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, under Clause 2, Article 117 of the Penal Code.
Based on Articles 141 and 142 of the 2015 Criminal Procedure Code, the Supreme People's Procuracy has called for suspect Dai, who is currently wanted, to surrender.
The People's Procuracy urged the suspect to surrender to police agencies, People's Procuracy offices in Vietnam, or Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to benefit from the leniency policy of the Vietnamese State and to exercise the right to defense under Article 60 of the 2015 Criminal Procedure Code.

Dai, 56, from Hung Yen province, currently resides in the Federal Republic of Germany. On 18/11/2024, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Security Agency prosecuted Dai, and a wanted notice was issued on 5/12/2024.
In 2007, while serving as the Head of Thien An Law Office, Dai was prosecuted and sentenced to four years in prison by the Hanoi appellate court for propagandizing against the State, followed by four years of probation after completing his sentence.
In a separate case, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced Dai to 15 years in prison and five years of probation for activities aimed at overthrowing the people's administration. The verdict became legally effective, and on 7/6/2018, Dai's prison sentence was temporarily suspended by a decision from the Hanoi People's Court.
