According to the investigation, the incident occurred around 10:45 PM on 10/5. Mr. Trinh Ngoc Dung, 60, a resident of Lien Chieu ward, was transporting Thanh on his Honda SH scooter from the Vuong Thua Vu - Pho Duc Chinh street area to the Tu Ha residential area in Dien Ban Dong ward.

When they reached a deserted section of the road, Thanh unexpectedly used a hard object to repeatedly strike Mr. Dung on the head and shoulder. Attacked, the victim abandoned his scooter and fled for safety. Thanh then stole the SH scooter and escaped.

On the morning of 12/5, upon receiving the report, the ward police initiated an investigation. Through professional measures, officers determined that Thanh had left the stolen scooter at a guesthouse in Son Tra ward before going into hiding. At 1:30 PM the same day, after more than 8 hours of pursuit, authorities apprehended Thanh at a coffee shop in An Hai ward.

A quick test revealed Thanh was positive for drugs. Police successfully recovered the SH scooter, which served as Mr. Dung's family's livelihood.
