The body was discovered around 7 am on 2/1, when a man driving along a concrete road next to Lo 1 canal in Hamlet 8, Cai Doi Vam commune, found the girl floating in a shrimp pond. She had a wound on her neck and was wearing a gray-white t-shirt with a gray jacket over it.
Recognizing the serious nature of the case, Colonel Chau Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of Ca Mau Provincial Police, directly visited the scene to direct professional units and coordinate the investigation.
The victim was identified as a girl born in 2013, a 7th-grade student residing in Cai Doi Hamlet, Cai Doi Vam commune. She lived with her maternal grandparents, whose family runs a food business at the local market.
Initial findings by authorities suggest the neck wound was caused by a sharp object, indicating she was likely murdered and then thrown into a local's shrimp pond.
