Teenager assaulted after coffee shop dispute

Bui Thanh Binh, 37, was involved in a dispute with a 17-year-old girl at a coffee shop, where he allegedly struck her head with a glass of water, verbally abused, and threatened her.

Ho Chi Minh City Police arrested Bui Thanh Binh, 37, on 3/1 for investigation into disturbing public order after an incident at a local coffee shop.

The incident, which occurred on the afternoon of 1/1, began when Binh and a friend were at a coffee shop on Vo Van Hat street in Long Truong ward, former Thu Duc City. Binh admitted to getting into an argument with a 17-year-old girl there. Reportedly under the influence of alcohol, he exchanged words with her before striking her head with a glass of water. Despite interventions from other patrons, Binh continued to verbally abuse and challenge the victim.

The event caused public uproar, with a video of the assault circulating on social media. Many online commenters condemned the man's actions, demanding accountability.

Police initiated an investigation after discovering the video while reviewing social media for security and order issues. They identified Bui Thanh Binh as the assailant and summoned him to their headquarters for questioning.
