According to authorities, on 15/8, Khanh hired a 61-year-old motorcycle taxi driver to take him from Long Tuyen ward to Phong Dien commune (about 10 km). Upon reaching a deserted stretch of road in Thoi Binh hamlet, Phong Dien commune, Khanh stabbed the driver, inflicting serious injuries, and stole his motorcycle.

Passersby took the victim to the hospital.

On the morning of 21/9, Khanh returned to the area and was apprehended by the Can Tho City Police. Khanh confessed to having spent all the money from selling the stolen motorcycle.
