Thai police announced on 10/10 the arrest of a 46-year-old man and his 44-year-old wife in Huai Khwang district, Bangkok. The arrests followed a request for cooperation from the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security to locate the suspects.
According to information released by Thai authorities, Vietnam sought the couple for investigation into a deliberate acid attack that occurred on the evening of 25/7/2025, at an outdoor restaurant in Hanoi.
Authorities determined the attack showed signs of prior planning. The woman is accused of luring the victim to a meeting, while her husband, disguised as a delivery driver, rode a motorbike to the location and threw chemicals at the victim's face and body, causing severe injuries.
After committing the crime, the couple fled Vietnam for Thailand. Authorities are also searching for a third suspect, believed to be the mastermind behind the attack.

Tracking suspects to a Bangkok residential area
Major General Songprode Sirisukha, Commander of Thai Immigration Bureau Division 3, stated that his unit received intelligence from the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security and initiated efforts to verify the suspects' whereabouts.
Following surveillance, police located them hiding in the Huai Khwang area of Bangkok. Officers established surveillance and, at approximately 17:00 on 9/10, apprehended both individuals as they emerged in front of a house in Pracharat Bamphen alley.
According to Thai police, the two initially admitted involvement in the incident and stated they had fled Vietnam to Thailand to evade capture. Authorities subsequently initiated procedures to revoke their residency permits and informed them of their legal rights.
Further processing of the case is being coordinated between relevant Thai and Vietnamese agencies. Thai police also stated they would continue to assist in the search for the third suspect who remains at large.
Thai officials stated that the case underscores the necessity of enhanced cooperation among international law enforcement agencies in tracking cross-border criminal suspects, aiming to prevent any nation's territory from becoming a safe haven.
The motive for the crime, the relationships among those involved, and the full identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed by Thai authorities.
