TikToker fined for video promoting football betting

Bui Van Hoa, 27, has been fined for posting a video that promoted football betting and encouraged suicide by jumping off a bridge following betting losses, coinciding with the 2026 World Cup.

On 10/7, the Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Hue City Police announced it had fined Bui Van Hoa 7.5 million VND. Hoa, a resident of Huong An ward, owns the Facebook account 'Bin Sip Bo Hue' and the TikTok account 'Bin sip bo nuoc Hue'.

According to police, the two accounts previously posted videos popularizing football betting and promoting suicide by jumping off a bridge after betting losses. Authorities deemed this content negative, impacting the online community's psychology during the 2026 World Cup, prompting an investigation to identify the account owner.

During questioning by police, Hoa admitted to managing and using both accounts to post and share entertainment videos, aiming to increase social media interaction.

Previously, in 2025, Hoa drove a convertible car while towing an electric motorcycle to film a TikTok video promoting a motorcycle business. At that time, Hue City Police fined him 1.8 million VND for driving a car without a seatbelt and towing another vehicle.
