According to the investigation, from 2015 to 7/2017, Nguyen Thi Luu, Director of Ban Me Real Estate Brokerage Co., Ltd. (formerly Tan Thanh ward, Buon Ma Thuot city), provided false information about non-existent land plots. She used forged land title documents and property certificates to appropriate over 26 billion VND from 68 individuals.
On 14/8/2017, Dak Lak Provincial Police prosecuted Luu for fraudulent appropriation of property under Clause 4, Article 174 of the Penal Code. However, before procedural decisions could be enforced, Luu fled, and a wanted notice was issued for her.
Authorities determined that during her time in hiding, Luu underwent plastic surgery to alter her facial features. She also used fake identification documents to conceal her identity and evade capture by the police. After nearly 9 years of persistent verification and search, on 27/7, Dak Lak Provincial Police, in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City Police and Tan My Ward Police, arrested Luu in Tan My ward.
