Wealthy woman loses lawsuit demanding nearly 6 million USD from younger companion

Widow Marianne Flippo spent nearly 6 million USD to be with a male model, but later sued to reclaim the money, claiming emotional exploitation.

Marianne Flippo, 49, filed a lawsuit against Greggory Starr, 38, alleging that he and an employee of a brokerage firm manipulated her into transferring millions of USD into a joint account. Starr later moved most of the funds to an account in his name.

The dispute began after Flippo's wealthy husband passed away in 8/2024. She sought a companion for a trip to Italy and was connected with Starr through Cowboys 4 Angels, a companion service. After the trip, their relationship evolved into a romantic one. Flippo paid approximately 150,000 USD for Starr to exclusively accompany her for six months. In 12/2025, Starr moved into Flippo's Upper West Side apartment. She then signed a contract paying 368,000 USD for his companionship from 12/2025 to 3/2026, followed by an additional 90,000 USD to extend the arrangement.

In her lawsuit filing, Flippo stated that a turning point occurred while she was recovering from surgery and on multiple medications. Starr told Flippo he wanted to be with her but could only leave Cowboys 4 Angels if he bought out his existing contracts, valued at 10 million USD. Flippo agreed. Once the money was transferred to the account, Starr stated he would withdraw the funds to terminate his contracts with Cowboys 4 Angels and focus on their future together.

Flippo then accused Starr and a company employee of pressuring her, while she was in a compromised state, to sign an agreement to terminate the contract. Flippo transferred 5.95 million USD (approximately 155 billion VND) into a joint account with Starr. Afterward, Starr transferred over 5.7 million USD to an account solely in his name.

"I now realize how foolish I had been," Flippo wrote in her complaint. She claimed that the relationship, which she believed to be true love, was a scheme to extract money from the assets she inherited after her husband's death.

At a Manhattan court hearing on 1/10, Flippo's lawyer stated that Starr had transferred over 1 million USD to an account in Dubai, then left the United States and would not return. Starr's legal team denied the accusation of fleeing, stating their client was merely on vacation in Dubai and arguing that transferring money there was not unusual.

Starr admitted to using some of the money Flippo transferred to him but claimed the funds were spent on her and charitable activities. He denied exploiting or defrauding Flippo, asserting they had a serious romantic relationship and even planned to marry.

In a ruling announced on 4/10, the judge rejected Flippo's request to recover nearly 6 million USD. The court found that she "failed to demonstrate entitlement to the remedies she sought" and "failed to prove irreparable harm." The judge noted that Starr's team provided audio recordings appearing to show Flippo understood and voluntarily acknowledged the terms of their agreement. Starr's lawyer called the outcome a significant legal victory, arguing that two consenting adults willingly entered into a legitimate agreement and Flippo's subsequent change of heart does not invalidate the legitimacy of the relationship or contract.
