Previously, on the night of 21/2, a 41-year-old woman from Tan Long commune was riding a motorbike across Moc Hoa bridge when she was suddenly intercepted by Tuong, Luan, and Nhan in a white four-seater car, which they had rented. Tuong then used a knife to threaten the woman, forcing her into the car. They confiscated her phone, handbag, and personal identification documents.
The group of suspects drove the victim to a guesthouse in Tan Tru commune, Tay Ninh province, where they beat her with a broom and a water pipe, forcing her to transfer 157 million VND to Tuong's account. By the morning of 22/2, Tuong and his accomplices used a seven-seater car to transport the woman back to Binh Hiep commune, Tay Ninh province, with the intention of selling her to Cambodia.
While stopping at a roadside eatery along National Highway 62 in Thanh Hoa commune, the victim took advantage of a lapse in the group's vigilance and fled on foot. She then reported the incident to Binh Hiep Commune Police. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of multiple injuries to her forehead, lips, eyes, temples, shoulders, and limbs.
Following the investigation, the Tay Ninh Criminal Police Department summoned Vo Van Tuan and Ly Kim Toan, subsequently arresting the remaining suspects.
The case is currently under expanded investigation.
