On 6/8, Van Thi Thuy, 37, a resident of Buon Ma Thuot ward, was arrested and temporarily detained for four months by Dak Lak Provincial Police. She faces charges of fraud and appropriation of property.

According to the investigation, Thuy, who had no stable employment, learned in late 2025 that a 33-year-old man was under police investigation for fraud. She approached him, falsely claiming to be a police officer with extensive connections capable of "fixing the case"—an illegal act where one attempts to influence legal proceedings, often through bribery, to achieve a favorable outcome. Believing her claims, the victim handed over 400 million VND as she requested.

When investigative authorities began verifying the incident, Thuy fled. Two days prior, after determining her location in Linh Nam ward, Hanoi, a task force was dispatched to apprehend her and transport her back to Dak Lak for further investigation.

The case is currently under expanded investigation.
