Ngo Thi Oanh, 25, from Dong My hamlet, surrendered to authorities after being persuaded to return from Cambodia where she had been hiding from an arrest warrant, Hai Chau Commune Police reported on 16/9.
The Investigative Police Agency (Nghe An Provincial Police Department) handed Oanh over to the Criminal Investigation Agency for Institutions and Enterprises (Ministry of National Defense) for further investigation into the crime of human organ trafficking.

Oanh confessed to being recruited by members of the kidney trafficking ring. She was asked to impersonate the wives of organ donors, signing consent forms and collecting payments.
When the Criminal Investigation Agency for Institutions and Enterprises (Ministry of National Defense) busted the ring and arrested the ringleaders, Oanh fled to Cambodia and became a fugitive.
In early September, Hai Chau Commune Police, in coordination with the Investigative Police Agency (Nghe An Provincial Police Department), contacted Oanh's family, urging them to convince her to surrender and receive leniency.
Authorities have not disclosed the amount of money Oanh received for each organ transaction.
The investigation is ongoing.
