On the afternoon of 20/3, a pine forest 10 km from Da Lat's center transformed into the wedding venue for Thao Vy, 26, from Phu Yen, and Huu Nhan, 30, from TP HCM.
Breaking from tradition, Vy chose a deep brown gown, adorned with a wild flower crown, as she walked past guests dressed in white. "I always dreamed of a fairytale wedding, exchanging vows with my partner witnessed by nature itself," Vy shared.

To bring this dream to life, the couple, both wedding photographers and videographers, spent one year designing their attire and the venue. For the main ceremony, Vy wore a brown-orange dress with a long veil. Later, for the dance, she changed into a short dress inspired by Tinker Bell. Huu Nhan, the groom, wore a blazer hand-embroidered with sunflowers, his wife's favorite flower.
Explaining her choice of brown, a color often considered too subdued for a celebratory occasion, Vy described it as an act of self-understanding. "I was born in autumn. For me, brown represents the late afternoon sun, dried leaves, and the peace found with loved ones," she explained. She also personally selected and sewed the bridesmaids' outfits.
Vy and Nhan wanted their special day to be distinct and deeply personal. The ceremony space transformed into a small art installation. They used hemp fabric from the Tay Bac highlands for decoration, a welcome sign crafted from corduroy, and a hand-stitched vow book.
"After the wedding, these fabrics will become curtains or tablecloths in our home," Huu Nhan said.

At the reception, the 40 guests not only dined but also participated in a "mini-fair," crafting commemorative bracelets, getting Henna art, and enjoying funky music – a vibrant American style blending R&B, jazz, and soul. The celebration lasted over 6 hours. Before concluding at 9 PM, the bride, groom, and guests danced freely in the old forest.
Thao Vy revealed that despite one year of preparation for their "fairytale" wedding, they faced challenges convincing their families, particularly regarding not choosing an auspicious date or the bride's decision not to wear a white dress.
Kim Chi, 46, the bride's mother, said that initially, the family was hesitant about a forest wedding and the bride's non-traditional dress. However, seeing her children happy and the guests comfortably embracing the youthful atmosphere, she felt at ease.
For Vy, the moment she danced beneath the pine canopy was when the fairytale became real. "A fairytale isn't about decorations; it's about the harmony of free spirits," she stated.
