According to The Beijing News and Jimu News, both events were booked at a restaurant in Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, Guizhou Province. Wu Mofeng signed the contract for his wedding with his legal wife, Kong Mohan, in the downstairs hall. Simultaneously, on the upper floor, he and his ex-partner, Lin, hosted a celebration for their child's 100th day.
The situation emerged when relatives from both families discovered the groom constantly moving between the two floors to greet guests.
The restaurant manager stated that a quarrel broke out between the two families upon discovering the situation, forcing staff to call the police. After authorities arrived to mediate, the parties continued without injuries, and all contractual costs were fully paid.
The incident went viral on social media from 11/10. Many online users called Wu a "master of time management," while also questioning if his actions constituted bigamy.
In response to the incident, local authorities confirmed that Wu did not violate the law. He is legally married only to his current wife, Kong Mohan. While he shares one child with his ex-partner Lin, they have never registered their marriage. Currently, economic disputes have arisen between Wu and Lin, which local departments are coordinating to resolve.
Lawyer Lu Jinyan from Mingjing Law Office (Jiangsu Province) stated that bigamy in China is only constituted when a legally married person registers another marriage with a third party, or openly and continuously cohabits as husband and wife. Organizing a 100-day celebration is merely a ritual to celebrate a child and does not provide sufficient grounds to prove Wu and his ex-partner are cohabiting as husband and wife.
