On 12/10, Wan An'an, a Chinese social media influencer, posted a video sharing her recovery journey.
Previously, at approximately 5 h on 10/6/2025, she fell from her rented 35th-floor apartment in a residential building in Changsha city, Hunan province. Some residents reported that she lived with her boyfriend. At the time of the incident, neighbors heard the man calling for help and an ambulance. Authorities have not yet released a final conclusion regarding the cause of the accident.
Doctor Xing Wei, Deputy Head of the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at Xiangya Hospital No. 3, stated that the patient survived due to two impacts that reduced the force. During her fall, she became entangled in a large tree before landing in a low bush, which prevented direct impact with the ground.

Despite this, Wan An'an was hospitalized with multiple severe injuries. The hospital mobilized seven specialties, from anesthesiology and orthopedics to neurosurgery and thoracic surgery, for emergency treatment. After the first surgery, which lasted 14 hours, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) in a coma.
Approximately 30 days later, her consciousness gradually recovered. She began to move her hands and could communicate using paper and a pen. After more than 50 days in the ICU and around 10 surgeries, the patient was weaned off the ventilator, overcoming the critical stage, but her right leg had to be amputated.
Wan An'an experienced selective amnesia upon waking and could not speak normally. After being transferred out of the ICU, she faced pain from reduced sedative dosages. In the first 48 hours, she slept less than three hours due to the pain from her injuries. She also required assistance to turn over.
More than one year after the accident, Wan An'an can now use a wheelchair outdoors, play games, play musical instruments, and is planning for a prosthetic leg. She shared that she was once worried about her work and life, but now she chooses to focus on the abilities she retains rather than her physical losses.
"Now I think, this life is not just my own. It is a life that doctors, nurses, and all those who love me fought together to reclaim from fate", she said.
Wan An'an stated that she will share her entire treatment experience in the near future to motivate those facing difficulties.
