Parents, children excited as Kun Marathon returns to Quy Nhon after three years

Hundreds of parents and children braved the rain on the morning of 11/9, flocking to Nguyen Tat Thanh Square to collect their Kun Marathon bibs and race kits as the event made its return after three years.

Kun Marathon, a free running event for children aged six to 10 years old, first came to Quy Nhon in 2020. It continued for two more seasons in 2022 and 2023 before a hiatus. The year 2026 marks the race's return to the coastal city, receiving a warm welcome from local residents.

On the morning of 11/9, Kun Marathon Quy Nhon began distributing race kits at 8h, just as the rain started. Despite the rain, a large number of parents still flocked to the square to complete check-in procedures, creating a lively atmosphere.

To receive their items, parents brought the QR code that the organizers had sent via email. After verification, volunteers distributed items including a carrying bag, bib, and race shirt, sorted by age group.

Dang Thien Di, nine years old, was excited for the race taking place tomorrow, 12/9. Her parent, Dang Hoang Lam, shared that in 2023, their family first learned about Kun Marathon. At that time, Di was just six years old and eligible to participate. That year's race left a positive impression of dynamism, helping children become more confident. Therefore, when the event had a two-year hiatus, Lam noted there was an "activity gap" for his children.

"When I learned the event was returning, I didn't hesitate to register immediately. My child is also very determined to compete. I hope Kun will come to Quy Nhon many more times", Lam said.

Hong An, 10 years old, and her family member are ready to conquer the race. Her parent, Xuan Hong, said she had known about Kun Marathon for many years, but this was the first time they had the opportunity to participate. The family's goal is "fun first", hoping the children have a chance to play with friends, create memories, and recharge for the new school year.

Gia Phuc, nine years old, arrived at the expo very early with his mother. He stayed for quite a while to participate in the experience activities. This is Phuc's first Kun Marathon. Since learning he would participate, the young runner has been excited, waking up early every day to exercise, and then running with his parents in the afternoon.

This time, Gia Phuc will participate with his younger brother and classmates. His mother, Hong Anh, considers Kun Marathon a meaningful race where children can run, connect with friends, and interact with celebrities. Encouraging children to be active also helps them develop physically, form healthy lifestyles, and reduce reliance on electronic devices.

After 9h, the weather cleared. Parents and young runners flocked to the square in larger numbers. Many parents took advantage of breaks from work to bring their children to collect their kits.

A group of parents gathered to collect bibs for their children.

Kun Marathon Quy Nhon will take place from 6h on 12/9. The race course is 800 m long, featuring several physical challenges designed to stimulate a spirit of conquest. In addition to competing, young runners will also have the opportunity to interact with artist Truong Giang and freestyle football athlete Do Kim Phuc.
