Wang Muyun and Chen Dijin are maternal half-siblings. After Muyun’s parents divorced, her mother remarried a man in Shixia village, Yangxin district, Hubei province, and later gave birth to Chen Dijin.
Shixia village is nestled among mountains, featuring a coal mine that attracted many workers. A national highway running through the village facilitated vehicle movement across regions.
On 7/7/1987, their mother visited her brother-in-law’s house, asking a neighbor to look after her two children. Upon her return, she found her children missing. Wang Muyun was 6 years old at the time, and her younger brother was two. A man named Zhou, a coal miner who worked with Muyun’s stepfather, came to their house, offered them cakes, and then enticed the two siblings to leave the village. The family reported the incident to the police, but the search yielded no results.
The abductor took the two siblings from Yangxin district north to Handan city, Hebei province, then separated them to sell them to two different families.

Distraught by the loss of her children, the mother relentlessly searched, sending money via inter-provincial truck drivers on the national highway, hoping for news. In 2015, their father, Chen Jingwan, passed away before finding his children. In the same year, Wang Muyun, residing in Handan, decided to search for her origins, posting information on the "Children Go Home" website. A volunteer named Zhuizhu Mengxiang took on her case.
Due to confused memories of her abduction, she mistakenly stated her hometown as Sichuan instead of Hubei. The volunteer group guided her to provide a blood sample to the police.
By 2016, the mother in Yangxin also contacted the website to find her children. Through information cross-referencing and coordination with Hubei police, Wang Muyun’s and her mother’s DNA samples were matched. In 8/2017, Wang Muyun returned home to meet her mother after 30 years of separation. Her mother urged her to continue searching for her younger brother, Chen Dijin.
Subsequently, the police arrested the abductor, Zhou, but he did not know Chen Dijin’s whereabouts.

In 2023, Chen Dijin, then 38 years old, decided to search for his origins after watching a reunion case online. While living with his adoptive parents, whispers from neighbors had made him suspect he was adopted. In 2025, when his adoptive parents revealed they had adopted him from an orphanage in Jiangxi, he decided to submit a blood sample for storage in 2024.
In 5/2026, Hubei police announced that his DNA sample matched a family in Yangxin district. At this point, Chen Dijin learned he was not abandoned but was a victim of an abduction. He was also informed he had an older sister living just 10 km away from him.
For 39 years, Wang Muyun lived in Phi Huong district, while Chen Dijin resided in Thanh An district, both within Handan city. The two places are 10 km apart, a 20-minute drive by oto, yet the two had never met.

On 23/5, the two siblings connected via WeChat. On the evening of 14/6, they met for the first time in central Handan. Muyun stated that the two siblings conversed harmoniously, feeling no distance between them. Chen Dijin recounted his regret that 20 years ago, he had worked in Wuhan for a few months without knowing he was near his hometown.
On 16/6, they left Hebei for Hubei. On the morning of 17/6, their train arrived at Yangxin station, and the two siblings, along with Chen Dijin’s wife, traveled to Shixia village. As Chen Dijin stepped into the family courtyard, he knelt and embraced his mother’s legs, while his mother bent down to hug her son. His mother pointed to a scar on his forehead, recalling a childhood memory of him falling, then offered him water to drink.
"I have brought my younger brother home, keeping my promise to you, mother," Wang Muyun said.
Chen Dijin stated he plans to stay in Yangxin for 10 days to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and visit his late father’s grave to offer apologies. He plans to bring his children to visit their grandmother during the upcoming summer holiday.
