On 3/3, Duy extracted security camera footage from his home, editing clips of "welcoming unexpected guests" and posting them on social media. His aim was to preserve memories and remind road users to drive carefully. Unexpectedly, the video "went viral", garnering more than 2,2 million views and 60,000 likes in one day.
Many viewers expressed their alarm at the dangerous situations and praised the homeowner for his kindness. Some even recognized themselves in the clip.
Linh Tuan, who drove straight into Duy's porch in late 7/2025, explained that he lost momentum while descending the slope due to unfamiliarity with the terrain. "Fortunately, the house gate was wide open, so I avoided a regrettable accident", Tuan recalled.
Explaining these unusual situations, Duy stated that his house is located right at the base of the Vinh Hung A iron bridge in Chau Thoi commune, adjacent to a local road 3,5 meters wide. The bridge, nearly 20 years old, has an approach designed in a Y-shape that turns sharply to both sides and is quite steep. Drivers unfamiliar with the road or with weak steering often become flustered, instinctively veering straight into his yard, which lies directly opposite.
Previously, the family witnessed many collisions that damaged their gate. The most severe incident occurred in 2024, when a young man lost control and crashed through the gate in the middle of the night.
Following that incident, the family decided to keep both gates open throughout the day. The spacious yard inadvertently became a "buffer zone" for drivers who lost momentum to recover in time. To enhance safety, the homeowner also proactively raised the yard's surface higher than the road, cleared obstacles, and laid rough tiles to create grip, helping vehicles brake more easily.

The family runs a restaurant, and while the occasional "uninvited guest" crashing loudly into the porch startles everyone, they always receive them with a friendly attitude. "If you check the camera, one or two vehicles might enter the yard each day. Those who lost control often awkwardly apologize before leaving. They just took a wrong turn; no one has bad intentions", Duy shared.
Living right next door, Phi Long, 15, often mistook passing vehicles for friends visiting when he saw them drive straight into Duy's yard. "Many friends in uniforms cycled in, and I was about to run out to greet them, but they quickly turned around because they took the wrong bridge ramp", Long recounted.
To mitigate risks at this accident-prone area, local authorities have, in recent years, installed signs and barriers to narrow the bridge entrance to prohibit cars. Duy's family also consistently reminds each other to observe carefully whenever entering or exiting the gate.
Sharing more about the video's unexpected reach, the 27-year-old said he simply wanted to contribute a small part from his home's location to help everyone. "I am completely happy to create a safe space for road users; I have no intention of blaming or complaining", he stated.
