Thousands flock to Ngo Mon Square to collect Kun Marathon bibs

On the morning of 17/4, many parents and young athletes gathered at the Hue Imperial Citadel area to collect race kits, preparing for the following day's race.

Race kit distribution for Kun Marathon Hue began at 8h on 17/4 at Ngo Mon Square. However, hundreds of parents and children had already arrived by 7h, eager to complete the collection process. After several seasons of strong support from parents in the ancient capital, this year's event expanded to include 2,500 athletes.

The race kit distribution area was efficiently organized into multiple lanes, each corresponding to a child's birth year, to streamline the collection process for parents. Even with outdoor temperatures reaching approximately 35 degrees C, parents patiently waited in line, their enthusiasm undimmed as they brought their children to this eagerly anticipated sports festival.

The organizing committee deployed over 20 volunteers to assist families in verifying information and distributing the race kits. This streamlined process typically took about one minute per participant.

Many young children accompanied their parents, eager to soak in the bustling bib collection atmosphere. Most remained quite shy, rarely venturing far from their parents' embrace while waiting for the procedures to be completed.

A few children, however, were more outgoing, striking poses and clearly demonstrating their excitement for the race scheduled for the following day.

Even children not yet within the 6-10 age requirement were brought by parents to the collection area, allowing them to experience the vibrant atmosphere. Hue consistently demonstrates one of the highest levels of enthusiasm for the Kun Marathon.

This year's event promotes the message "Together with Kun, protect all species", integrating physical activity with education on animal and environmental protection. One child, pictured wearing a rabbit hat, clearly showed enthusiasm for the event's message promoting love for animals.

Chau Vu Thuy Vi, a resident of Thuan Hoa ward, captured photos to share with her family after successfully collecting the race kits. Vi expressed her admiration for this year's event theme. "When children learn to love animals, they also develop empathy and a more compassionate way of life," she noted.

Parents and children eagerly checked in against the event's "Together with Kun, protect all species" backdrop. At the race on the morning of 18/4, artist Truong Giang will deliver this message to the young participants. The event also includes interactive game booths, all centered around the same theme.

The Kun Marathon Hue 2026 also features several personalities popular with children: football freestyler Viet Anh, Can Minh Duc, singer-actress Ali Thuc Phuong, and YouTubers Meo Simmy and Mike Den.

By noon, the bib distribution area remained bustling, with hundreds of parents utilizing their lunch breaks to finalize procedures for their children. Over 1,000 individuals attended the event on the morning of 17/4, and organizers anticipated distributing approximately 1,000 more race kits in the afternoon.

Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hai, a resident of Phu Xuan ward, collected four race kits for his child and nieces/nephews. He mentioned that his family has participated in Kun Marathon Hue since its earliest editions.

"Every time Kun Marathon comes to Hue, my family collects cards and participates in minigames to secure slots for our children," he shared. "The event provides significant motivation for my child to exercise daily."
