Around 12:15, a 16-seat passenger bus traveling towards the center of Hanoi caught fire near Hong Van commune. The driver pulled over onto the emergency lane, and passengers escaped without their belongings.

Within 5 minutes, the fire engulfed the bus, creating a plume of smoke tens of meters high.

The fire department dispatched two fire trucks to the scene. By then, the fire had almost completely destroyed the bus. Expressway Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) also dispatched officers to manage traffic and guide people safely off the expressway.

Two days prior, a Hanoi-registered passenger bus belonging to Bang Phan transport company caught fire after leaving the Hong river tourist dock and arriving at Chuong Duong Do street, Hong Ha ward. No one was injured.
