The boy, a resident of Nam Can commune, was a patient being treated at the Pediatric Department of the Ky Son Medical Center in Muong Xen commune, the former Ky Son district. Around 1 p.m., during his lunch break, he and a relative went out to the lobby to play.

At the same time, a 7-seater car carrying a patient arrived at the emergency room and then turned around to leave the center. While driving down the slope from the Emergency Department to the gate, the car struck the boy. His grandmother was standing nearby but couldn't react in time.

The victim was taken to the emergency room, but died due to severe injuries.

Muong Xen commune police are investigating the scene and the cause of the accident.
