The bomb was found in Minh's garden on the morning of 4/7, about 50 meters from a residential area. The cylindrical bomb, 1.2 meters long and 0.4 meters in diameter, still had its detonator intact. Its nose, tail, and body were rusted.
Authorities identified it as a foreign-made M117 bomb, a remnant of the war. This is the third bomb found in this area.

The Nam Dan commune Military Command, in coordination with the Regional Defense Command 1 - Van An, secured the site and evacuated nearby residents.
For five days, Minh's garden was cordoned off and guarded around the clock to ensure safety and prevent access.
On 9/7, the Engineering Department of Nghe An Provincial Military Command deactivated the detonators and transported the bomb to the training ground in hamlet 1, Nam Dan commune, for disposal.
During the war, Nghe An was a strategic transit point on the supply route to the south, enduring thousands of bombing raids. Although bomb and mine clearance operations have been conducted since the war ended, some unexploded ordnance remains.
