4-seater car mangled after train collision in Hanoi

A Hanoi-plated 4-seater car was mangled by a train while making a U-turn near the tracks, though the driver managed to escape on the evening of 10/7.

Around 8 PM, a male driver operating a Toyota 4-seater attempted a U-turn within the Giap Bat - Van Dien railway section, near 88 Ngoc Hoi street in Hoang Liet ward. Upon seeing the train approaching rapidly, the driver quickly jumped out of the car.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver ran approximately 50 meters, attempting to signal the train conductor to stop, but was unsuccessful.

The 4-seater car was struck by the train and propelled about 10 meters, its body severely mangled. By 10 PM, authorities were still securing the scene and investigating the cause of the accident.

The train involved in the collision was SE19, which was en route to Da Nang. The locomotive sustained minor damage and resumed its journey after a 30-minute delay for repairs.

In early June, train SE19, traveling on its North-South route, was involved in another collision with a dump truck. The truck was turning from National Highway 1 onto Nhi Khe commune road in Hanoi. Fortunately, the truck driver managed to jump out in time.

Previously, in February, train SE3, traveling from Hanoi to TP HCM, struck a truck. The truck driver was crossing the tracks despite the automatic barrier being lowered. The truck driver died in the incident. Following this accident, the railway sector and police erected fences to block numerous unofficial crossings.
