New kitchen inaugurated for highland students in Son La

Hope Foundation and FPT Japan recently inaugurated a new kitchen for Na Loc students, replacing a dilapidated corrugated iron structure that had been in use for 13 years.

The Na Loc school point is part of the Dua Mon Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School in Muong Lam commune. Previously, students' semi-boarding meals were prepared in a corrugated iron kitchen built in 2013, which had fallen into disrepair.

To provide students with a safe environment, Hope Foundation and FPT Japan sponsored 500 million VND to construct a new kitchen and renovate the entire old building into a dining hall.

Nguyen Quoc Tu, the school principal, stated that the project provides students with a safe semi-boarding environment. The kitchen offers more space for the cooks to prepare daily meals, while the new dining area gives students more room to sit.

During the inauguration ceremony, Do Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of Muong Lam People's Committee, commented that the project demonstrates the sponsors' responsibility towards ethnic minority students in the area. "Each solidly built classroom, each completed project, and each piece of equipment added not only improves teaching and learning conditions but also motivates students to attend school with peace of mind," said Dung.

Kimura Katsuhisa, Head of Regional Development Promotion Department at FPT Japan, stated that through this project, the organization aims to ensure students have adequate nutrition and can focus on their studies.

"We want to connect not only through work but also through activities that bring value to the community and future generations," said Kimura.

Nguyen Thi Hien, an FPT Japan employee, shared that a field trip helped her better understand the students' hardships and the teachers' dedication to staying in the remote area, which motivated her to support education in deep rural regions.

On this occasion, the FPT People for Community Fund donated the school five computer sets, a 65-inch television, a portable speaker system, two water purifiers, and over 200 gifts including school supplies, confectionery, and milk. In return, Na Loc students also prepared handmade gifts for the fund's representatives and sponsors.
