8-year-old girl dies in Ho Chi Minh City house fire

A fire engulfed the first floor of a house in Vinh Loc commune, formerly part of Binh Chanh district, leading to the death of an 8-year-old girl and severe burns for three people on the morning of 2/12.

The blaze erupted on the first floor of a two-story house, approximately 60 square meters, located in an alley on Lien Ap 2-6 Street in Vinh Loc commune, just after 1:00 AM. At the time, four people were inside the house, including two girls aged eight and ten. As the fire spread rapidly, three individuals with burns climbed over a balcony to a neighbor's house to escape, but the 8-year-old girl remained trapped.

Residents attempted to extinguish the flames using small fire extinguishers, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Over 20 police officers and several fire trucks arrived at the scene, bringing the fire under control with water hoses after about 20 minutes. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the 8-year-old girl had died from smoke inhalation. Many belongings were destroyed, and the first-floor walls were extensively blackened.

Nguyen Thi Thao, chairwoman of Vinh Loc Commune People's Committee, stated that the ten-year-old girl and two adults who suffered severe burns are currently receiving treatment at Nhi Dong 2 Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
