8-year-old girl dies in regulating lake

The body of an 8-year-old girl was discovered in Bay Mau Lake in Thanh Sen Ward on the afternoon of 21/2, several days after she lost contact with her family.

At 2 PM, residents saw the girl's body floating on the lake surface and reported it to authorities for retrieval. A few days prior, the girl had lost contact with her family, and relatives had searched numerous locations without success.

Bay Mau is a regulating lake situated within a residential area. It was formerly part of Nam Ha Ward (in the old Ha Tinh City) and is now located in Thanh Sen Ward, with a water depth exceeding 4 m.

According to authorities, the girl was a first-grade student at Nam Ha Primary School. She came from difficult family circumstances, and her parents had separated.
