A sand dune, over 100 m long and 50 m wide, has recently emerged in central Nha Trang beach, attracting many visitors. Trung Vu, a 35-year-old Nha Trang resident who regularly walks across Tran Phu Bridge in the mornings, noted that the sand dune had been present for several days but only became clearly visible recently due to stable weather and low tide, after a period of rough seas. Local residents state this is the first time such a large and long sand formation has appeared in the central Nha Trang area. Previously, smaller sand dunes were observed along the coast but were easily washed away by waves.
Dam Hai Van, Director of the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, explained that the sand dune formed at the confluence of river and sea currents. Sediment and sand from upstream, carried by recent historic floods, flowed down the Song Cai river. This, combined with continuous wave action hitting the shore, created the sandbar.
