Flight VN34 from Munich to Hanoi on 15/8 had to turn back for an emergency landing at Munich airport after two hours in the air. According to information from the European aviation website Airlive, during takeoff on the runway, the Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 performed a late takeoff maneuver and only left the ground near the end of the runway. This caused the tail to strike the ground, creating a large dust cloud.

After takeoff, the flight crew flew the aircraft to an altitude of approximately 9,000 feet. They then reported a tire pressure warning signal and announced the need to dump fuel before returning to the airport. The aircraft circled for about 90 minutes to jettison fuel, bringing its weight to a safe level for landing.
