An American tourist, 28, died after his motorbike crashed into a drainage ditch on Son Tra peninsula in the early morning.

The city fire and rescue police dispatched a specialized vehicle and 8 officers to the scene. Emergency medical services also arrived, but the victim was already deceased.

At the scene, a Honda manual transmission motorbike was found in the drainage ditch, while the victim's body lay on a roadside barrier. Authorities recovered identification documents revealing the victim was an American citizen, temporarily residing in an apartment in An Hai ward.

Police examined the scene. By nearly 10 a.m., the motorbike was recovered. The body was also transported to the morgue, awaiting relatives. Authorities are investigating the incident, initially suspecting the tourist caused the accident and died as a result.

Hoang Sa street, leading up the Son Tra peninsula, is a popular route for tourists, offering views of the mountains on one side and the sea on the other. This is a challenging mountain pass with many sharp turns, steep slopes, and obstructed views. During rain, the road surface becomes slippery, bordered by cliffs and deep ravines, posing a significant risk of accidents.
