On 30/8, the Da Nang City Military Command announced that during the excavation and collection of martyr remains at Dai Chanh Martyrs' Cemetery in Phu Thuan commune, officials discovered an artifact at grave number 345, row one, section B4.

The surface of the intact artifact bears the inscription: "Nguyen Toan Quyen, born 1954, unit CB72, martyred on 27/11/1972."

According to the Da Nang City Military Command, this information is crucial for authorities to review military records, verify the unit and hometown, and promptly connect with the martyr's family. The sampling activity is part of the "500-day and night campaign to search for, gather, and identify the remains of martyrs with incomplete information."

Phu Thuan commune currently has four martyrs' cemeteries: Dai Tan, Dai Thanh, Dai Thang, and Dai Chanh, with a total of 2,894 graves. Among these, 1,645 graves remain unidentified. To date, forces have excavated and collected samples from nearly 1,200 graves, gathering over 750 biological samples suitable for DNA identification.

The Da Nang City Military Command urges veterans, comrades, or relatives with information about martyr Nguyen Toan Quyen to contact the unit directly or the Phu Thuan Commune Military Command to cross-reference information and promptly restore the identity of the fallen soldier.
