Barge collides with Ghenh bridge, several injured

A barge traveling upstream on the Dong Nai river collided with the underside of Ghenh bridge on the morning of 6/3, injuring several people.

At approximately 10:30 AM, an unladen barge traveled upstream from TP HCM. As it reached the section of Ghenh bridge in Bien Hoa ward, the vessel struck the underside of the bridge forcefully while passing through, causing many motorbike riders on the bridge to fall. Several injured individuals received immediate emergency medical care.

France built Ghenh bridge in the early 20th century. In 2016, a barge on the Dong Nai river struck and collapsed the bridge. Subsequently, the Government approved the construction of the current new bridge with three spans. In addition to serving trains, the bridge provides two lanes for motorbikes.
