Around 2:10 a.m. on 25/7, a Da Nang-registered sleeper bus driven by 36-year-old Le Ngoc Thanh from Thanh Hoa province was traveling on National Highway 1 heading north to south.
Upon reaching Dong Trinh hamlet, Song Tri ward (former Ky Anh town), the bus blew a tire, struck a roadside milestone, and overturned onto its left side.

The bus crashed into a pile of firewood stacked by the roadside. The accident killed 9 people at the scene, including some parent-child pairs. 16 injured individuals were taken to Ky Anh Town General Hospital, one of whom was in critical condition and later died after being taken home.

According to Anh Thu, a survivor from Hanoi, the front of the bus suffered the most significant impact. Those who were unconscious or died were seated near the cabin, behind the driver.

The front of the bus was deformed, the windshield was shattered, and the front license plate was dislodged. It was not raining at the time of the accident. The road had 4 lanes and was clear on both sides.

A concrete drainage culvert was broken after the bus crashed into it.

Passengers' luggage was scattered outside the bus, including a child's pillow.

After being lifted by a crane, bloodstains were visible on several parts of the bus, and many blankets were caught on the windows.

The left side of the bus was completely stripped of its windows. Police are currently cordoning off the scene and investigating the cause of the accident.

All victims were admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries. Leaders of Ha Tinh province visited the victims at the hospital. Their health is relatively stable.
Initial police investigation and the driver's testimony indicate that the bus's front tire blew out, causing him to lose control and overturn the vehicle. The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
