On 15/7, Du Minh Hung, Director of Ca Mau's Department of Construction, said that officials are being paired up in rooms, with a monthly rent of around 5 million VND. The maximum rental period is two months, and accommodation is allocated based on need, not rank.
Over 1,700 officials and public employees from the former Bac Lieu province are now working in Ca Mau following the merger. Of these, over 1,500 require housing assistance. Around 300 have been assigned to public housing, guest houses, and renovated offices, while the majority are renting private accommodation.

For a long-term solution, the province is expediting the renovation of suitable buildings to convert them into public housing and accommodation. The plan is to complete 48 rooms (6 public housing units and 42 accommodation rooms) in July and an additional 80 rooms (20 public housing units and 60 accommodation rooms) by 1/9 for officials from Bac Lieu.
"After two months, these accommodations will be completed, meeting the housing needs of the officials currently staying in hotels," Hung said, adding that some officials have brought their families to Ca Mau, so the Department is working to meet their needs as best as possible.
Previously, the Ca Mau Provincial People's Council approved a support policy for each official transferring from Bac Lieu, including: 1.2 million VND for rent, 520,000 VND for travel expenses, and 500,000 VND for living expenses per month, applicable for two years. This support will be disbursed with their monthly salaries.
The new Ca Mau province was formed after the merger of the former Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces. Its administrative center is in Ca Mau City, about 70 km from Bac Lieu's center. After the merger, the province covers nearly 7,950 km2, has a population of over 2.6 million people, and comprises 55 communes and 9 wards.
