Tam has previously held positions such as chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City and head of the Can Tho City Party Committee's Propaganda and Public Mobilization Department. After the merger of Can Tho City with Soc Trang and Hau Giang provinces in early July, Tam served as the editor-in-chief of the Can Tho Newspaper and Radio-Television Station.
At the same time, Vo Chi Cong, 46, former head of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, was assigned as head of the Can Tho City Party Committee's Propaganda and Public Mobilization Department. However, he was recently reprimanded by the Politburo and removed from his position as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee due to violations committed during his time as a member of the Standing Committee and head of the Organization Department of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee.
Following the personnel decision of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Cong will now serve as deputy head of the Propaganda and Public Mobilization Department. The position of acting editor-in-chief of the Can Tho Newspaper and Radio-Television Station has been assigned to Huynh Hoang Men, the unit's permanent deputy editor-in-chief.
