Around 4 PM on 20/9, a Mercedes crashed into a gas pump at the Mai Dich 1 gas station in Phu Dien ward while reversing to refuel.
The pump fell on an attendant who was refueling a motorbike. Seconds later, a fire erupted, causing panic among the dozen or so people waiting to refuel.
The attendant scrambled away from the blaze. Even after escaping, his shoes were still on fire. Two customer motorbikes also caught fire.
Gas station employees used on-site fire extinguishers to put out the flames.

On the morning of 21/9, the Mai Dich 1 gas station resumed normal operations. The damaged pump was upright and covered with a tarp. The attendant who was trapped under the pump was unharmed. Phu Dien ward police are investigating the incident.
