The impact threw Van and her two children onto the road. The car careened into a nearby rubber tree plantation, coming to a stop only after hitting a tree. The motorbike was also flung to the side of the road.
Van and her 6-year-old son died at the scene. Nam and the 3-year-old boy were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, but the younger child later succumbed to his injuries. The front and rear of the car were severely damaged.
According to local residents, the accident occurred on a curved section of the road and visibility was poor due to the darkness.
