Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee; along with other leaders, officials, and residents paid their respects to emperor Quang Trung. This is the first year that Gia Lai province (the newly merged province) has held a memorial ceremony for emperor Quang Trung after the merger of Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces.
The memorial ceremony provides an opportunity to revisit the legacy of the Tay Son peasant movement, led by the three Nguyen brothers: Nhac, Hue, and Lu. Among them, emperor Quang Trung, or Nguyen Hue, stood out as a brilliant and consistently victorious general.

He led the Tay Son army, transforming it from a peasant uprising into a national liberation force that unified the country after more than 200 years of division.
Born in 1753 in Kien My village (Tay Son district, former Binh Dinh province), Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue dedicated his short 39 years to the cause of national liberation. He passed away on July 29th, 1792, during a time of burgeoning prosperity for the nation.
