Car with fake license plate discovered after cutting off another vehicle on street

A 7-seater Ford Everest, fitted with an incorrect license plate, was identified after cutting off another vehicle on a Thanh Hoa street, leading to fines totaling 51 million VND for the driver and owner.

A driver and the owner of a 7-seater Ford Everest have been fined a total of 51 million VND in Thanh Hoa province after the vehicle was identified with an incorrect license plate and involved in dangerous driving incidents. The Quang Xuong Traffic Police Station, part of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, confirmed on 15/4 that administrative fines were issued following public reports and a video circulated on social media.

The incident unfolded on 5/4, after 17h, when the white Ford Everest was observed on Nguyen Trai street, near the Hac Thanh - Phan Boi Chau intersection. Dashcam footage provided by a citizen showed the driver deliberately driving over lane markings, cutting off a vehicle in front, and braking suddenly, actions that caused frustration among other road users.

Upon verification, authorities identified the driver as a 34-year-old man residing in Quang Phu ward, Thanh Hoa province. He had borrowed the car from a woman in Hac Thanh ward. However, the vehicle was equipped with a license plate that did not match its official registration certificate.

Based on these violations, authorities fined the driver 28 million VND for operating a vehicle with an incorrect license plate and for illegal overtaking. Additionally, the driver's vehicle was impounded for seven days, and 10 points were deducted from his driver's license.

The vehicle owner was also fined 23 million VND for entrusting the vehicle to another person to drive while it was fitted with an incorrect license plate.

According to the Traffic Police, the successful verification and handling of this case, initiated by public reports, highlights the effectiveness of community oversight in ensuring traffic safety and order. This serves as a warning against deliberate violations, which pose significant accident risks and require strict enforcement for deterrence and general prevention.
