Nguyen Thuy Linh, an office worker in Cau Giay, has participated in social insurance for 10 years and seven months. However, her VssID application only displays six months, indicating a discrepancy of over 10 years. Linh stated that she has repeatedly called the hotline, asked HR at her former company to restore data, and even sent update requests via the VNeID application, but the issue remains unresolved.
This shortfall is not limited to the application. On her physical social insurance book, Linh's contribution period was also confirmed as incorrect, decreasing from 9 years and 10 months (until 9/2024) to six years and six months (until 6/2025). She confirmed that her previous company made full social insurance contributions and expressed concern: "If the contribution period is missing on both the application and the physical book, I will lose unemployment benefits if I leave my job."
A similar situation affects Phuong Loan, a media professional in Dong Da. Having worked since 1998, with a total contribution period of 27 years, her VssID only displays data from 2009, missing 11 years. Loan had to cross-reference with her physical book and ask her company's HR department to recheck.
"I work for one agency, so checking is not overly complicated. If I had moved between many different units, it would require multiple steps because the application doesn't specify which months or years are missing," Loan shared.

VssID, an application developed by Bao Hiem Xa Hoi Viet Nam (Vietnam Social Security) to track social insurance contributions, currently holds a 1.9/5-star rating on the App Store, with many comments complaining about cumbersome procedures and errors related to missing contribution time.
According to Bao Hiem Xa Hoi Viet Nam, errors where VssID displays missing contribution time are common, stemming from four main reasons: The first is that data from employers has not been fully updated to the system. The second is that businesses are late in making contributions or report increases or decreases in labor at incorrect times. The third reason is that the industry's system is currently undergoing data synchronization. The fourth reason is that employees' personal information is inaccurate, preventing the system from correctly matching their participation history.
The agency advises employees to address any data discrepancies promptly to avoid future impacts on their benefits.
To resolve these issues, employees can take the following steps: Report the issue to the HR department so the company can supplement records and submit them to the social insurance agency for confirmation; Directly visit the social insurance agency managing their records to verify and request updates; Submit feedback through the National Public Service Portal by selecting the "Feedback, suggestions" section, clearly describing the missing period and their social insurance code.
Employees should prepare necessary documents such as screenshots of their social insurance participation history on VssID (especially for the missing timeframes), their citizen identification card, social insurance code, and documents proving their employment history.
Bao Hiem Xa Hoi Viet Nam affirmed that all participation history has been digitized, synchronized, and stored in the industry's database. The agency also committed to implementing solutions to fully update employee data as soon as possible.
