Container truck pins 7-seater car, Ho Chi Minh City gateway jammed for hours

A tractor-trailer collided with a 7-seater car on Vo Chi Cong street near Phu Huu bridge, causing a 3 km traffic jam for two hours on the eastern gateway route on 10/4.

Around 6h, a tractor-trailer carrying a 40-foot container was traveling on Vo Chi Cong street, heading from Phu Huu roundabout towards the High-Tech Park. Upon reaching Phu Huu bridge, the vehicle collided with a 7-seater car traveling in the same direction ahead, pushing it against the bridge railing. The front of the car was severely damaged; however, no injuries or fatalities occurred.

Following the accident, the two vehicles blocked one lane on Ring Road 2, a section connecting the High-Tech Park, Vo Nguyen Giap street, and Phu My bridge. This caused a traffic jam extending for about 3 km, with many tractor-trailers and trucks moving slowly in a queue.

By 9h, traffic police had completed clearing the scene and removing the involved vehicles, allowing traffic in the area to gradually return to normal.

Vo Chi Cong street, stretching over 13 km, connects Phu My bridge to the Rach Chiec bridge - Hanoi Highway area. It serves as a vital artery linking Cat Lai port and Thu Thiem center with the eastern provinces. Due to the high volume of trucks and containers, this route frequently experiences congestion.
