Le Ngoc Chau appointed secretary of Hai Phong Party Committee

Le Ngoc Chau, 54, chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, has been elected secretary of the City Party Committee, replacing Le Tien Chau, who became deputy prime minister.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc, head of the Central Organization Commission, presented the Politburo's decision to approve Le Ngoc Chau as secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee for the 2026-2031 term on the morning of 10/4.

Chau, a native of Ha Noi City, holds a doctor of law degree. He is a member of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party and a deputy of the 16th National Assembly.

His career includes serving as deputy commander of the Mobile Police Command, Ministry of Public Security; director of Hai Phong City Police; and director of Hai Duong Province Police. In 9/2024, he was elected chairman of Hai Duong province.

Following the merger of Hai Phong City and Hai Duong province in 7/2025, Chau was appointed chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee.

The Standing Board of Hai Phong City Party Committee currently comprises Party Committee Secretary Le Ngoc Chau and deputy secretaries: Do Manh Hien (permanent deputy), Le Van Hieu (chairman of the People's Council), Pham Van Lap (chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee), and Do Thanh Trung.
