Around 12h, Nguyen Chi Thanh, 41 years old, was driving a car with a TP HCM license plate, carrying five other people, on the Hon Ba pass road towards Suoi Dau lake. When it reached the section passing through Suoi Lau 2 village, Suoi Dau commune, the vehicle suddenly veered right and collided with a ditch alongside the mountain slope.

The impact heavily damaged the front of the car, and the front airbags deployed. All six occupants were injured. Passersby assisted in extracting them and transferred them to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, more than 20 km from the scene.

A 68-year-old man later died. At the time of the accident, the weather was dry, the pass road was clear, and traffic was light. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Hon Ba peak is part of the Hon Ba Nature Reserve, located about 50 km southwest of Nha Trang. The 37 km road from the base to the summit features hundreds of curves and often experiences fog towards the end of the year.
