Around 2:20 a.m., a loud explosion rocked the fourth-floor room rented by 25-year-old Hoang Minh Lam and his 21-year-old wife, Ly Thi Bich Diep, in My Dien 2 residential area, Nenh ward. Smoke and a foul odor emanated from the room.

The four-story building, housing 64 rooms, shook violently, causing over 100 residents to flee in panic.

Nineteen firefighters and three fire trucks from the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department arrived at the scene, joining 10 officers from the Nenh ward police.

Lam and Diep were found dead inside their room. The 20-plus square meter room was blackened by fire, with furniture destroyed and debris scattered on the ground.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
